International Scottish Rite
Center - Sitting atop "Capitol Hill," this impressive structure is often
mistaken for the original state capitol building, partly because the site
was originally designated in 1890 as land for the State Capitol building.
Built by artisans imported from around the world and paid for by wealthy
Oklahoma masons during the oil rush decade of the 1920's, it is reportedly
the largest Scottish Rite Temple in the world. This awe-inspiring building
is available for guided tours twice daily on weekdays and once on Saturdays.

Oklahoma Sports
Museum

museum in 1996, this museum recognizes professional and Olympic athletes
who have Oklahoma ties and use their influence through varied activities
to encourage youth to be "Drug Free" and live a positive lifestyle.
Currently with more than 600 items from the sports careers of nearly 300
Oklahoman's, the display, one of which is interactive, promises to be comprehensive
as well as entertaining.

of many famous Oklahoma athletes are highlighted here, such as Jim Thorpe,

Sante Fe Depot
|
|

The Santa Fe, completed in 1887, was
the only railway into Oklahoma Territory and the only direct connection with
the "outside" world during the hectic days of 1889. The first depot was a
small red frame building located on the west side of the tracks. For the
world's first big landrun, the Santa Fe had only a single track leading through
the new country. Guthrie was a watering station with rudimentary yards. Twenty
trains carrying 1200 to 1500 passengers each were scheduled out of Arkansas
City and Purcell on April 22, 1889; Guthrie was target destination for most
of these.
The present two-story red brick station was
completed in 1903 and housed passenger service, mail service, "Harvey House"
restaurant, newstand, employee living quarters, and offices.
